The importance of water

Lately, on my Environmental Management class we have been discussing about the water distribution around the world. This is divided into water-rich countries, the ones place between the tropics which means they have a great amount of annual precipitation and on the other hand we got the water-poor countries, which are mainly located in deserts and got low chances of obtaining fresh water resources.
One of the water-poor countries most known problem is that the water scarcity is so high at the point that people aren’t able to cover their basic needs out of it. This produced the death of people, principally children since it cause diseases. Although, nowadays the average of people affected is about 40%, it’s estimated for the percentage to rise over the years. What’s worse is that water is needed daily, doesn’t matter if it’s for drinking or if it’s for sanitation, it is vital for our life. So, next time you open the tab or drink a bottle of fresh water think about what it is happening on the other side of the county where, per example, women spend 6 hours per daily to carry on their shoulders water for their families.

To resume, next time we use water we should realise if it’s worth and be grateful for the privilege we have.

  1. Yes, Vicky. We should be grateful for having water. Good ideas. Be careful with the organisation of the paragraph and how you balance your thoughts. Let's talk about it.
